Alice M. Schaefer

Alice M. Schaefer, 88 of Streator passed away Thursday morning (May 6, 2021) at her home.

Following cremation a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Alice was born on October 26, 1932 in Cornell to Glen H. and Beulah (Shoemaker) Garretson. She married Robert E. Schaefer on August 13, 1950. He survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Pamela Schaefer of Streator and Patty (William) Jones of Wenona, daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Mark Frey) Schaefer of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandchildren; Robert (Susie) Baker, Kristi (Jeff) Mahadocon, Jason Jones, Jennifer (Brandon) Thomas, Joshua (Kayla) Jones, Kelsey (Glen Pomorski) Schaefer and R. Scott Schaefer, great-grandchildren, Spencer and Parker Baker, Cole, Kinsley Jones and Josey Thomas, sister-in-law, Theresa Schaefer of Brentwood, TN and 3 special nephews, Gerry Garretson, Gary Garretson and Elwood Paul Garretson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Robert G. Schaefer, brothers, Glenn “Bud”, Charles and Kenneth Garretson and her sister Anita Paul.

Alice graduated from Streator High School in 1950. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Alice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going shopping and just sitting outdoors on a nice sunny day and going to the beach.

Memorials may be made in her name to either the OSF Hospice or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
