Arnold M. Mauzy

   Arnold M. Mauzy passed into the loving arms of His Lord Monday, July 23, 2012 at age 101 in Streator, IL. Private graveside services were held at Whitehead Cemetery, New Paris, IN.
   Arnold was born March 24, 1911 in New Paris, IN to Anna May (Arnold) and Clifford James Mauzy. His mother passed away on March 30, 1911, 6 days after his birth and Arnold was raised by his Aunt Louella and Uncle Millie Arnold in New Paris, New Paris, IN.
   As a young man, Arnold was a laborer on farms in the New Paris area, making hay and working hard.
   Arnold married Betty Shafer on August 25, 1950 and they resided in New Paris, IN.
   Arnold was employed by Elkhart County Highway Department for 26 years, retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he was befriended by Bill and Shirley Tarman and was employed at the Parmore Golf Course, New Paris, IN. His employment there was perhaps the happiest time of his long life.
   In November, 1990, Arnold relocated to Streator, IL where he resided with his son, Bob and family. He attended St. Mary's Adult Day Center for 18+ years. He enjoyed being outside with nature, tinkering with small engines, taking care of the pets and having his photo taken with his many friends. Arnold was a simple and gentle man who lived his life to please others.
   Arnold is survived by his wife, Betty Mauzy, New Paris, IN.
   Also surviving are his sons, Bob (Josa), with whom he made his home for the past 22 years and Kenneth (Teresa) Goshen, IN. He is also survived by three grandchildren Seth (Melissa) Mauzy, Tucson, AZ , Garrett (Michelle) Mauzy, Daingerfield, TX and his only granddaughter, Meredith Mauzy, Streator, IL, all of whom he adored.
   He was pre-deceased by his son, Clifford Arnold Mauzy and daughter -in-law, Lynn (Eggeson) Mauzy in 2010.
