Barbara Jane Matas

Barbara J. Matas, 89 of Streator passed away Saturday (October 21, 2023) at the ARC – Streator.

A visitation will be held Thursday from 10 – 11:45 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 12noon at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church.  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Boyd, John Matas, Tony, Chase and Masen Libby and Brian Haws.

Barbara was born on February 11, 1934, in Benton, IL to Adlie and Goldie (Rice) Rogers.  She married Albert Matas Sr. on November 14, 1953.  He preceded her in death on December 10, 2010.

Surviving daughter Karla (Fred) Neiggemann of Streator, son Albert J. (Patricia) Matas Jr of Galena, grandchildren, Kristi (Tony) Libby, Kelsey (Nick) Maier, Kasey Neiggemann, Jason (Jaci) Boyd and Albert (Megan) Matas III, great grandchildren Chase and Masen Libby, Darwin Maier, Natalie and Madison Boyd and Albert “AJ” Matas IV, great-great grandchildren Hadley and Sawyer Haws.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Jack, Jerry, Paul and Bill Rogers and a sister Patricia in infancy.

Barbara graduated from Benton High School.  She retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 1989.  Barbara was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
