Beckie Jo (Walkey) Chismarick

October 9, 1955 — October 1, 2022

Beckie Jo (Walkey) Chismarick, 66, of Streator passed away Saturday (October 1, 2022) at the Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff, WI.

A visitation will be held Monday (Oct. 10th) from 3 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday (Oct. 11th) at 10:30 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Beutke, John and Johnathon Fuller, Jim Kern, Scott Miller, and Greg Salata.

Beckie was born on October 9, 1955, in Peoria, IL to Joseph A. and Barbara J. (Shepherd) Walkey.  She married Gary Chismarick on April 25, 1992.  He survives.

Also surviving is son Patrick (Alyssa) Chismarick of Streator, granddaughter Madilyn Chismarick, sisters-in-law, Sharon Walkey of Streator and Debbie (Ben) Beutke of Long Point, brothers-in-law, Craig (Allison) Chismarick of Palm Harbor, FL and Kevin Chismarick of Streator, aunt, Helen Murtaugh of Streator, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lee Walkey, in-laws, Raymond and Phyllis Chismarick, grandparents, Albert and Hazel Walkey and Gilbert and Mary Shepherd.

Beckie graduated from Streator High School in 1973 and from Illinois State University.  She was co-owner and Managing Broker of Chismarick Realty, co-owner of the Town and Country Apartments, and was the former owner of the Town and Country Inn.

She was a current member and the first ever female member of the Streator Kiwanis Club, served as the current and long-time Woodland Key Club Advisor, was a current member of the SOCU Advisory Board, Streator Tourism board, Streator Leading Ladies, SAVE Investment Club, Streator Chamber of Commerce, and St. Michael the Archangel Church. 

Beckie received many personal and professional accolades during her lifetime. Among those, include the IVAR Realtor of the Year Award and the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Key Club Outstanding Service Award.

Beckie was passionate about everything she was involved in, especially the real estate profession, always known as an honest, ethical, and true professional. She was also immensely passionate about the Streator community, local charities, and guiding and mentoring others. Beckie never met a stranger, always greeting everybody she encountered with an infectious smile and positive attitude. Above all, Beckie was most passionate about her family. She spent every second of free time with her family. Even when she wasn’t with them, they were always first on her mind and she shared her love for them in every conversation she had. She was a devout wife, mother, and her favorite title of all- grandma. She loved Madilyn with her whole heart and made sure she knew it in all ways, especially through hugs and kisses, playing, reading books, and teaching her new things. Beckie is and will be immensely missed by her family, friends, and the Streator community.

Memorials may be made in her name to any local organization or charity.
