Carrington R. Claudel

Carrington “Candi” R. Claudel, 54, recently of Streator and formerly of Romeoville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023 at her home after a brave battle with cancer.

Candi was born on September 8, 1968, in Seattle, Washington to George and Avis Marie (Gorsline) Claudel. She graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Candi loved her children and was known as “Nana” by her most precious grandchildren.  She was a fun woman that loved to sing karaoke, was everyone’s friend, and always had the right words to say to make someone smile. Candi was passionate in caring for others, leading her to a long career as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Candi is survived by her daughter, Melyssa (Gio Magana) Claudel of Naperville and son, Robert (Dana) Hayden of Aurora; grandchildren, Dominic and Gianna Magana, and Maverick and Oliver Hayden; her partner, David Mukenschnabl of Streator; and brothers, Slater (Barb) Claudel of Palermo, Maine and Richard (Theresa) Claudel of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and several special nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Clayton Gorsline.

Funeral arrangements were assisted by Winterrowd Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
