Charles F. Lawton Jr

Charles F. Lawton, Jr., 65 of Streator passed away Sunday (December 18, 2022) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. 

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at Central Church of Christ with  
Pastor Paul Webster officiating.  

Charles was born on March 26, 1957, in Streator, IL to Charles and Alice (Mahaffey) Lawton.  

He married Shirley Wilson on August 2, 1990.  She passed away on June 13, 2020. 

Surviving are children, Jeromy (Karen) Lawton of Streator, Christina Lawton of Streator, Shannon (Luke) Wadford of Plano TX, Jeanette Casey of Mississippi, Ty (Rebecca) Cox of Pontiac and James (Karina) Cox of Perth, Australia, 25 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and stepsister, Leslie Mahaffey.   

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Charles K. Lawton III and Shain Copeland and daughter, Tina M. Cox.    

Charles worked at Streator Brickyard, Vactor Mfg. and Owens Illinois Glass.  

He attended Woodland grade school and graduated from Woodland High School.  He served in the U.S. Army.   

Charles was a member of Central Church of Christ and the founding member of the Dream Machines Car Club in Streator.
