Clayton “Butch” B. Parcher, 79 of Streator passed away Friday morning (March 1st) at St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held Saturday March 16th from 10 – 12 noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Services will be held at noon at the funeral home with grandson Joshua Wilken officiating and a duet by son Randy Parcher and Pastor Scott Fulkerson. Full military honors will be conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park at a later date.
Butch was born on August 10, 1939 in Streator to Clayton B. and Alberta (Rush) Parcher. He married Joyce Pellerin on July 23, 1961. She survives.
Also surviving are children Clayton W. Parcher, Kimberly (Bob) Shinkey, Randy (Cindy) Parcher, Tom Parcher all of Streator, Raymond Parcher Swiskoski of Wisconsin, Bob (Kelly) Parcher Swiskoski of Peru, Daniel (Blanca) Parcher of Streator, Tabby (Kenny) Housman of Streator and Sue Parcher of Streator, 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, sister Karen Johnson of Long Point, brother Jim Parcher of Streator and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law Paul Wilken.
Butch attended the Mackey Grade School and Streator High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Marias AO57. He retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 2000. Butch was a member of the NRA, life member of the North America Hunt Club, First Baptist Church of Cornell and enjoyed woodworking. He and his wife were foster parents for over 32 years having fostering over 1,500 children.
Memorials may be made to either the St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children or St Labre Catholic Indian Schools.
