Cora Mae Shawback

Cora Mae Shawback, 91 of rural Tonica passed away Monday (April 12, 2021) evening at her home.

A visitation will be held Monday (April 19^th) from 10 – 11:30 AM at the Central Church of Christ.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM at the church with social distancing and masks being worn.  Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Tonica.

Cora was born on February 1, 1930 in Streator to Ralph and Ina (Eckard) Wright.  She married Robert J. Shawback on February 6, 1951.  He preceded her in death on August 19, 2018.

Surviving are daughters, Sally (John) Puckett of Anderson, IN, Beth (Mike) Runge of Girard, IL and Peggy (Tom) Hughes of Cortland, IL, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and 5 sisters.

Cora graduated from Streator High School in 1948. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for many years.  Cora enjoyed crafting, cooking, reading and being a farm wife.

Memorials may be made in her name towards a handicap van fund for her great granddaughter Moya Avilma in care of Sally Puckett @ 5328 Kingston Ave.  Anderson, IN 46013.
