Darrel Lee Fitch

Darrel Lee Fitch, 88 formerly of Streator passed away Saturday (July 3, 2021) at the Prairie Crossing Living & Rehabilitation Care Center, Shabbona.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 AM – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon at the funeral home with military honors conducted members of the Streator American Legion and VFW following.  Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.

Darrel was born on July 3, 1933 in Mt Erie, IL to Jacob and Ina (Allison) Fitch.  He married Karla Simpkins on July 6, 1986.  She preceded him in death on December 18, 2018.

Surviving are children, Crystal (Doug) Roach, Alicia Fitch and Evan Fitch, life long friends Marilyn (Ken) Vogus the mother of his 3 children, sister Lavina, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a step nephew Gary Simpkins.

Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, wife Karla, step daughter Schezelle Hallam, and 5 brothers and sisters.

Darrel served in the US Army from 1953 until 1955.  He retired from Caterpillar in Aurora.  Darrel was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene, Streator and the Congregational Church in Shabbona and several veterans organizations.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
