David L. McCoy Sr.

David “Dave” L. McCoy Sr., 73 of Streator passed away Monday (October 14, 2024) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be son David, son in law Harold Hamilton, grandsons Owen, Neven, David, Samuel and Johnathan McCoy. Active will be sons Willis and Kenneth, son in law Steve Carl, grandsons Mason McCoy, Steven Carl and Lawrence Summers, brother-in-law Jim Reynolds, and Dean Alhstrom. 

Dave was born on November 21, 1950, in Streator to David W. and Erma (Whitlock) McCoy. He married Aloma Reynolds on September 24, 1977. She survives.

Also surviving are children David McCoy Jr. of Streator, Carrie (Steve) Carl of Streator, Melanie McCoy of Streator, Rachael (Harold) Hamilton of Las Vegas, NV, Willis (Jillian) McCoy of Oglesby and Kenneth (Kirsty) McCoy of Milford, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandsons, brothers Wally, Gary and Edgar in infancy.

Dave attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School and IVCC. He was formerly employed at US Foods and Spirit Miller as a truck driver.

Dave was a member of the Friday night mixed bowling league and had served as president.
