David Douglas Whitaker

David “Doug” D. Whitaker, 78 of Manville passed away Saturday (March 11, 2023) at Heritage Health, Streator.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 12noon at Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.

Doug was born on May 2, 1944 in Rock Royal, NY to Richard and Stella (Stringer) Whitaker.  He married Luanne Ranger on September 21, 1985.  She survives.

Also surviving are sisters, Joan (Ernest) Griswold of Bainbridge, NY and Faye Parsons of Bainbridge, NY, sister in law Linda Whitaker of Walton, NY

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Carl Whitaker and brother in law Leroy Ranger.

Doug attended school in New York, he served in the US Army from 1966 until 1968 during Vietnam.  Doug was a life long laborer with the Roanoke labor local 996, he was a member of the Streator American Legion Post 217 and Streator VFW Post 1495 and the Streator Moose Lodge.

Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
