Delbert Ray Schell, 85 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (September 22, 2024) at OSF St. James Medical Center, Pontiac.

Delbert was born on July 16, 1939, in Blackstone to Orville and Helena (Lyle) Schell.

Surviving is his sister Beverly (Harold) Wells of Gridley, nephews, Wes (Kristen) Wells and Rollyn (Angie) Kuntz, 9 great nieces and nephews and 27 great great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a niece Brenda Kuntz.

Delbert graduated from Flanagan High School in 1958 and had served in the US Army National Guard. He retired from Owen’s Illinois Glass.

Delbert enjoyed fishing, boating especially in Canada and target shooting.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 – 10:30 a.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with services following at 10:30 and burial following in the Gridley Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be his great nephews, Jacob, David, Nathan, Mark and Ben Kuntz, Mikel Steffen and Clint Kupferschmid.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Veteran’s Organization or a charity of the donors choice.
