Donald J. Kolojay

Donald J. Kolojay, 75 of Streator passed away May 6, 2024, at his home.

A visitation will be held Sunday from 12noon until 2p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with services and full military honors conducted by members of the Peru American Legion.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jerry, Joe, Mason, Emerson, Mike, and Bud.

Don was born on October 27, 1948, in Streator to Andrew and Jean (Gochanour) Kolojay.  He married Patty Hawkins on May 27, 1987.  She survives.

Also surviving are children; Jerry Kolojay of Colorado, Sandra Kolojay-Crawley of Henry, Joe (Jaime) Kolojay of Morris and Stephanie Hawkins of Dwight, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother John (Donna) Kolojay of Streator, sisters, Gail, Kelly, and Vicki all of Washington state, sister-in-law Marsha Kolojay, brother-in-law Dick Rowe and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son James, granddaughter Amara, brothers, Thomas and Robert, sisters, Dorothy, and Sue.

Don attended Wilson and Woodland grade schools and Streator High School.

He proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Oriskany during Vietnam.  Don retired from Union Local 722.  He was a member of the Streator Men’s Bowling League.
