Donald J. McAllister

Donald J. McAllister, 83 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (January 7^th) at the Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.

A visitation will be held Friday from 1 – 3 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Tom Gallup, Kevin Knowles, Bob Ahlstrom and Steve Yurich, nephews Ray and Jeff Fairall.

Don was born on March 9, 1934 in Peoria to Hector and Margaret (Sharisky) McAllister.  He married Ruth D. Dent on May 31, 1953.  She preceded him in death on December 29, 2010.

Surviving are daughters Donna (Tom) Gallup of Tonica and Gail Andrew of Streator, grandchildren Tom (Angie) Gallup, Janet (Bob) Ahlstrom, Renee Gallup, Tanya (Kevin) Knowles, Amanda (Steve) Yurich, Allison and Greg McAllister, 12 great-grandchildren and a brother Raymond (Juanita) McAllister of Toluca.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Allen.

Don attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and retired from Thatcher Glass.  He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls Basketball, sitting on his front porch and being with his grandchildren and walking his beloved dog Snowball.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
