Dorothy A. Nicklin

Dorothy A. Nicklin, 89 of Streator passed away Saturday (November 5, 2022) at Heritage Health, Streator.

Visitation will be held Thursday (Nov. 17th) 11:30 am until 1:30 pm at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Dave and Jeff Wakeman, Bob, Joe and Jake Buckley, Terry Trenor, and Bob Simons and honorary are the Women’s Bowling Association members.

Dorothy was born on July 27, 1933, in Rockford to Etta Hasenkamper.  She married Ralph Nicklin on February 1, 1964.  He survives.

Also surviving are, sister-in-law Marge Balke of Grand Ridge, brother-in-law, Dan (Mary) Nicklin of Aviston, IL, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, Godchildren, Renee Warnement and Bob Simons and 4 great-Godchildren, Carson and Mallory Trenor, Shae and Brezdyn Simons.

She is preceded in death by her mother, brother Albert Hasenkamper and sister Gladys Rosen.

Dorothy attended Wenona Grade School and High School.  She was a hairdresser for 23 years and she was Owner/Proprietor with her husband Ralph of the Streator Lanes/Pioneer Room for 30 years from 1971 until 2001.  Dorothy bowled for 53 years and held various office in several leagues including President & Secretary of the Bosa Nova League, President of the Monday Night League and Secretary of the Ladies Trio League.  She was a member and director of the Women’s Bowling Association for 26 years.  In 1985, she was inducted into the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.

Dorothy enjoyed fishing in Chetek, WI for 50 years with her husband Ralph.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the family of Dorothy Nicklin.
