Edward George Green, 85 of Streator passed away Sunday morning (Dec. 11th) at his home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 - 11AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:30AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Hays, Jeremy Green, Joshua Green, Eric and Chad Clevenger, Tom Ness and Gino Albert and Honorary Jacob Green.
Edward was born on July 29, 1926 in Streator to George Edward and Mary (Pouk) Green. He married Rita Holohan on November 19, 1949 she survives.
Also surviving are children Mary Ann (Tom) Bandura of Sugar Grove, Janet Clevenger of Bloomington, Edward James Green of Streator, Richard(Fataneh) Green of Xaimen, China, Tom (Janice) Green of Streator, 15 grandchildren,21 foster grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Robert Green of Streator, twin sister Dorothy Clark of Aurora and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Adam brothers Ralph and George Green
Edward attended St. Stephen's Grade School and Streator High School. He is a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army, and retired from Owen's Illinois Glass in 1988, and a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.
