Edward Martin Kusnerik, 77 of Roscoe Illinois, formerly of Streator passed away Monday June 16, 2014 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born November 11, 1936 in Streator Illinois the son of George and Regina (Kettman) Kusnerik. He married Ione D. Johnson in August 1961, the mother of his two daughters. He married Carolyn K. Matson of Ottawa Illinois on April 25, 1992 in Ottawa Illinois. He retired from Vactor Mfg in Streator in 1994 after 30 years. He attended St. Stephens school and graduated from Streator High School in 1955. He played country music for 25 years. His idol was "The Master" Chet Atkins. Ed could tell you every country artist that sang a country song. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and camping in Wisconsin and a stop at the casino occasionally. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughters Krystal (Moises) Arevalo and Kelly (Jim) Holocker both of Ancona Illinois. Stepchildren Jerry Wright and Jeff Wright of Moline Illinois, Lisa (Dan) Behrens and Tisha Stump of Pleasant Valley Iowa. Grandchildren Leticia, Marcus, Heidi, James and Jami and great grandchildren Keegan, Anabella, Brody and Tessa and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Rosemary Micklos, Louise Devera, George and Bill Kusnerik, former wife Ione Johnson and stepdaughter Shelly Wright.
A memorial will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday June 21 with visitation from 12-2 at Winterrowd- Hagi Funeral Home, Streator Illinois. Cremation rights accorded by Honquest Family Funeral Home Roscoe Illinois. In leiu of flowers memorials can be made in his name to the American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen or to the family for his great grandchildrens education.
