Edward “Lunk” F. Kolojay Jr., 76 of Streator passed away Sunday (September 22, 2019) surrounded by his family at the OSF St. Francis Medical Center , Peoria.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 – 7 PM and Friday from 10 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Daniel Kolodziej and James McDonald. Active will be his grandchildren.
Ed was born on October 26, 1942 in Streator to Edward F. and Dorothy (Hart) Kolojay Sr. He married Wilma Walkup on June 22, 1963. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1997.
Surviving are children; Tammy (Cory) Compton of Las Vegas, NV, William (Melissa Weddel) Kolojay of Cornell, Karen (Ed) Leskanich of Streator and Bonnie (Brad) Johnson of Long Point, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brothers Daniel (Carol) Kolodziej of Streator and Kenneth “Todd” Kolojay of Sandy Valley, NV and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.
Ed attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School. He retired from Caterpillar in Joliet and he formerly ran a kennel for American Black and Tan Coon Hounds. Ed loved traveling, cruises, old classic cars, motorcycles, playing the guitar, line dancing, spending winters in Texas and was an avid Colts fan.
Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
