Elmer John Lurz Jr., 75, of Streator, passed away Friday (June 1, 2012) at his home.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors conducted members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bryan, Blake, Savannah, Noah, Caleb and Case. Active will be Terry, Frankie, Jim, Ryan, Shawn, Elmer Lurz, Jackie Otto and Dustin Dunning
Elmer was born January 14, 1937 in Streator to Elmer J. and Gladys (O'Neal) Lurz Sr.
He married Dolores (Pomatto) on June 1, 1984, she survives.
Also surviving are children, Pattie Lurz of Ottawa, Theresa Lurz of Joliet, Danny Martin of Nebraska, Nancy Lurz, Paula Lurz, Bryan Lurz , Elmer (Amanda) Lurz of Streator, Jackie Otto of California, Jimmy, Linda Lurz of Streator, Step-children, Belinda and Dwayne Alexander both of Streator, 25 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Frank and 2 grandsons Lucas Lurz and Jeremy Kolesar, Sister Mary Lou Lanning and brothers James Lurz and Frank Katanich.
Elmer attended Greeley and McKinley Grade schools
He was a member of the Erven Avenue Baptist Church.
