Emery Paul Kapitan

Emery Paul Kapitan, 75 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (April 29^th) at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Joliet.

Following cremation, a private family service will be held at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with burial in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Emery was born on October 19, 1941 in Johnstown, PA to Emery C. and Helen (Brantz) Kapitan.  He married Annabel Eggers Finney on January 2, 2015.  She survives.

Also surviving are sons James and Michael (Dawn) Kapitan of Waynesboro, PA, step-children Susan (Daniel) Oller, Catherine (Shane) Spellious, Mary (Tim) Berninger and Larry (Donna) Finney all of Streator, 3 granddaughters Destiny, Ashlin and Jasmine, 10 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren, brothers Ronald (Judy) Kapitan of Templeton, PA, Larry Kapitan of Waynesboro, PA and sister Linda Mowen of Waynesboro, PA.

Emery is preceded in death by both his parents, step-son John Finney and 2 step-great-grandsons Owen and Mark.

He retired from the state of Maryland as a Counselor.
