Frank L. Schmitt

Frank L. Schmitt Sr., 84 of Streator passed away Sunday (July 9, 2023) at his home.

Following cremation, a visitation will be held Friday from 10 AM until 12Noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 12Noon at the funeral home with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.

Frank was born on April 6, 1939, in Grand Ridge to Arthur and Audrey (Moss) Schmitt.  He married Carol Kinkade on November 19, 1960.  She preceded him in death on November 12, 2004.

Surviving are daughters, LeeAnn Cook of Streator, and Kim Schmitt of Lacon, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister Audrey Plymire of Streator, several nieces, nephews and his beloved dogs Cocoa, Zues and Ivory.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, son Frank Schmitt Jr, brothers, Arthur and Mark and a sister Jean Provance.

Frank attended Grand Ridge grade school and Ottawa High School.  He served in the US Marines.  Frank retired as a truck driver after many years.  He was a member of the 1^st United Methodist Church and a former member of the Lazy Acres.  He was an avid collector of trains and clocks.
