Glen “Mark” Vissering, 67 of Streator passed away Wednesday morning (December 11, 2024) at his home.

A visitation will be held Monday (Dec. 16th) from 4 – 7 p.m. with funeral services following at 7 p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

Mark was born on September 12, 1957, in Streator to Glen and Sally (Compton) Vissering. He married Gerlaine “Gigi” McMenamin on September 12, 2015. She survives.

Also surviving are son Mark Vissering of W. Virginia, daughter Angie (David Krug) Vissering of El Paso, his beloved dog Pepper, grandchildren, Evan, Colin and Maddie, sisters, Nancy Cinnamon, Kathy (Miles) Tuller and Mary (Bob) Avon, brothers, David (Lynn) Vissering and Paul (Linda) Vissering all of Streator, brothers in law, Kevin (Jeanne) McMenamin of Long Point and Michael (Carol) McMenamin of Spooner, Wi and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Sally and son Eric.

Mark attended Streator Grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1976, he attended IVCC. Mark was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Streator Moose Lodge, Streator Eagles, Streator Elks Lodge, Marshall County Sportsman Club, Lazy Acres and Ducks Unlimited.

He retired from construction with Vissering Construction Company.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Streator Moose Lodge.
