Gloria Jean Hobbs

Gloria Jean Hobbs, aged 95, from Streator, IL, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at the ARC in Dwight, IL. After cremation, a visitation will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home, followed by services at noon. Burial will occur at a later date. Gloria was born on May 13, 1929, in Harmon, IL to Roy A. and Anna W. (Onken) of Essex, IL. She is survived by her sons; Randall (Deb) Hobbs of New Bern, NC, Mitchell (Carol Pratt) Hobbs of Varna, IL, and Terrell Hobbs of Mazon, IL; daughter Jannell McMullen of Mazon, IL; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren plus one on the way. and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by sons Darrell Hobbs and Kendell Hobbs, daughter-in-law Lori Hobbs, grandchildren Connie Harms and William (Bill) Hobbs, brothers Gilbert Essex and Clifford Essex in infancy and sisters Hanna Echelbarger and Bernice Rogers. Gloria raised her children in Rutland, IL for 21 years before relocating to Streator and retiring from Owens-Illinois Glass in 1990. Post-retirement, she found joy in being a loving Nanny to the Doerner and Stanford Families. She enjoyed playing countless card games, baking cookies, exploring country roads, and befriending everyone she encountered. In her own words, "I've never met a stranger." She was a member of the Streator Moose and Streator Eagles. Gloria will be remembered for her humorous one-liners and her deep love for her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moose Heart or Lightways Hospice.
