Irwin Lester, 89 of Hartselle, AL and formerly of Streator, IL passed away Thursday evening (June 23rd) at the Falkville Health and Rehab Center in AL.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home, Streator, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Long Point IL Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Richard Bentlin, Nathan Lester, Kevin Shannon, Gary Fargher, Ben Bentlin and William Zeilman.
Irwin was born on July 4, 1921 in Toluca, IL to Homer Seth and Cora Mae (Irwin) Lester.
He married Phyllis Jean Holz on September 28, 1947, she survives.
Also surviving are son, David (Joyce) Lester of Warrenville, SC, and daughter, Patricia (James) Svetz of Hartselle, AL, 3 grandchildren, Monica (Kevin) Shannon of Decatur, AL, Marcy (Brian) Murphy of Castle Rock, CO, and Nathan (Alicen) Lester of Aiken, SC, and 3 great-grandchildren, Christian Murphy, Aidan Shannon, and Rylee Lester.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Freda Bentlin.
Irwin retired from Owens Illinois Glass and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hartselle, AL. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 210 Hickory St. SE, Hartselle, AL 35640.
