James "Jim" E. Yanek

James “Jim” E. Yanek, 80 of Streator passed away Wednesday morning (December 28, 2022) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

A visitation will be held Monday from 9-11AM at Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator.   A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Father Bowen Schmitt officiating.

Cremation rites will follow services.  Burial will be at a later date.  

Jim was born on March 5, 1942, in Streator, IL to Edward and Rosemary (McClernon) Yanek.

He married Beth Kobal on March 6, 1978.  She survives. 

Also surviving is a daughter, Robin (Adrian Dominguez) Yanek of North Aurora, grandchildren, Morgan and Tommy Yanek both of Streator, brothers, Edward Yanek of Sandwich, Raymond Yanek of Streator, Mark (Sue) Yanek of Streator and Patrick Yanek of Streator and sisters, BethAnn (Ron) Connor of Streator, Sue Halterman of Peru, Geri (Mike) Talent of Flanagan and Kathy (Bob) Burkett of Tennessee. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tommy Yanek and sisters, Eileen Kinkade and Margaret Dye.

He attended St. Mary’s Catholic grade school and Streator High School.  He retired from Vactor Manufacturing in 2009.   Jim was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. 

Jim always enjoyed playing a round of golf. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
