Jerry H. Cook, 79 of Streator passed away peacefully Tuesday morning (October 15, 2024) at his home.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at noon at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Long Point Cemetery with military honors conducted by members of the Long Point American Legion.

Jerry was born on March 2, 1945, in Fairbury to Roy and Eva (Miller) Cook. He married Louanne Bennett on November 22, 1968. She survives.

Also surviving are daughters Maggie Deigh of Missouri and Sara Jane Mounce of Henderson, NV, granddaughters Bethany Bednar, Kristi Mounce, Emily Mounce and Riley Reed, great granddaughter Lotus Mayfield, sisters Jude Kopriva of California and Laura Hall of Southern Illinois.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Ryan and a brother LaDaun Cook.

Jerry graduated from Woodland High School in 1963, he served in the US Army from Sept. 1965 till Aug. 1967. Jerry was employed at Libby Owens Ford for 25 years and retired from Caterpillar. He was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and a member of the Long Point American Legion for over 50 years.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research, The Carmi Baptist Children’s Home or to the New Beginnings Baptist Church.
