Joanne H. Behrens

Joanne H. Behrens, 85 of Streator passed away Tuesday morning (February 7, 2023) at her home.

A visitation will be held Friday from 10am until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Benning, Neal, and Tyler Turner, Jon Walters and Don and Donnie Elias.

Joanne was born on January 22, 1938 in Streator to Leo Martin and Helen (Hansen) Haughtigan.  She married Fred Behrens in 1971.  He survives.

Also surviving are children, Kathy (Joseph R.) Benning of S. Carolina, Kevin (Lisa) Turner of Streator and Karen (Don) Elias of Tennessee, grandchildren; Jennifer Benning, Joseph D. (Allison) Benning, Neal (Melissa) Turner, Sara Turner, Tyler (Amber) Turner, Annie (Jon Walters) Elias and Donnie Elias, great granddaughters Teagan Benning and Chloe Thrush, siblings, Marlene Simpson of Streator, Robert (Eileen) Haughtigan of Streator, James Taylor of Streator and Kenneth (Pat) Taylor of Streator and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice Flowers and a brother Bernhard Haughtigan.

Joanne attended Cornell grade school and graduated from Streator High School.  She retired from Thatcher Glass.

Memorials may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
