John W. Mills

John W. Mills, 87 of Ancona passed away Friday morning (August 12^th) at his home.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 AM – 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Ancona Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be son, Dave, son-in-law Tim Klein, grandsons Mike, Ryan and Steve Mills and Randy Tunget.

John was born on June 25, 1929 in Toluca to Edward and Jane (Boland) Mills.  He married Betty Taylor on February 1, 1948.  She survives.

Also surviving are sons Mike (Tara) Mills of Streator, Dave Mills of Streator, daughter, Audrey (Tim) Klein of Toulon, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, sisters, Virginia Clark and Bonnie Madara both of Streator and Judy Pickworth of Oglesby and several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons Patrick, Jerry and Tom, grandson William Mills, Sister Betty Jansen and a brother Jerome Mills.

He attended Cornell Grade School and High School and was retired from Streator Brick in 1993.  John enjoyed fishing and woodworking.  He also was a caretaker and a board member of the Ancona Cemetery for many years and a member of the Central Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Ancona Cemetery Association.
