John Boyer Wagner III

September 13, 1934 — November 30, 2017

John Boyer Wagner III, 83 of Streator passed away peacefully Thursday morning (November 30, 2017) at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa

A visitation will be held Sunday from 3 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, TJ, Todd and Tony Masley, Matthew Wagner, Kendall Loudon and great-grandson Blaine Koppen.

John was born on September 13, 1934 in Streator to John B. and Alice (Gerber) Wagner II.  He married Julia McBride on September 21, 1955. He later married Linda Hool Cunningham on November 14, 1992.  They both survive.

Also surviving  are children John B. Wagner IV of Streator, Jane (Dan) Masley of Streator, Judith Wagner of Omaha, NE, Jennifer (Dan) Harback of Streator, step-children, Glenn (Sara Perrotta) Cunningham of Streator and Cheryl (Mark) Loudon of Cornell, grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew Carben) Wagner, Lucas (Andrea) Wagner, Jonni Munich, Tanya (Jeff) DaVault, T.J. (Tori Pflibsen) Masley, Todd (Heather) Masley, Tony (Alyssa Ferko) Masley, Michelle (Kevin) Cline, Matthew (Laura) Wagner, Shannon Harback, step-grandchildren Troy (Ashley) Cunningham-Soltis, Anthony, Michael and Andrew Cunningham, Christina (Brian) Enderli, Caroline (Ben) Roeschley and Kendall Loudon, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, sister Nancy (Jerry) Yanello of Plainfield, brothers Richard Wagner of Morris and Robert (Cindy) Wagner of Galesburg and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 children in infancy, 1 granddaughter in infancy, sisters Marilyn Holcomb-Risley and Ruth Kmetz.

John attended Garfield grade school and graduated from Streator High School in 1952, attended Bradley University, Peoria and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1959.  He formerly owned and operated the Wagner Vault Company and Wagner Monuments. John was a licensed funeral director for 58 years. He worked at the former Wagner Bros. Funeral Home and the Winterrowd Funeral Home. He bowled for many years in the Sterling League at Bowl-Mor Lanes and coached the First United Methodist Church Youth Basketball.  John was a member of the Streator Elks Lodge 591. He enjoyed woodworking.
