Joseph Michael Vargas Sr., 70 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (Aug. 17th) at his home.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 â 7PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Joe was born on January 30, 1943 in Streator to Frank and Lupe (Toletto) Vargas. He married Virginia M. Smith on Nov. 21, 1969 she passed away on Aug. 23, 2011.
Surviving are children; son Michael (Jamie Novak) Vargas of Streator, daughters; Marye Jo (Richard Sliker) Vargas of Streator, Becky Sherman of Gibsonton, FL, 10 grandchildren, Justin, Wally, Wyatt, Madison, Derek, Dylan Vargas, Caleb Novak, Laci Eggers, Myriah and Gabby Gonzales, 4 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Brayden, Connor and Maysin, brothers; Harold Vargas of Dwight, Lucius Vargas of Moline, sisters; Judy Fritz of Dwight, Annie Giannerini of Dwight, Jen Nunez of E. Chicago and Marie Hernandez of California.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Joe Vargas Jr., brother Raymond, sisters, Louise Cardova, Helen Palmer and Lupe Vargas.
Joe retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 43 yrs and was owner of the former Triple K Tavern and was a member of the Marshall County Sportsman Club.
