Manville

Juanita M. Katcher, 94 of Manville passed away Sunday (February 16, 2025) at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Ottawa.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Katcher, Robert T. Poole, Ben Hulse, Alex Walker, Jeff Walter and Phillip Spaniol. Honorary will be Darrell Hart, Archie Simpson and Luke Spaniol.

Juanita was born on November 5, 1930, in Streator to Dennis and Susie (Ambrose) Hart. She married James “Skip” Katcher on November 14, 1953 after they met at a race track. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2015.

Surviving are, Mike (Debbie) Katcher of Streator, Margie Benckendorf of Ancona, Mark (Vicki Walter) Katcher of Manville and Monica (Robert Poole) Katcher of Blackstone, 3 grandchildren, Lacey (Ben) Hulse, Casey (Alex) Walker and Andrew (Brooke) Katcher, 6 great grandchildren, Benjamin II and Ava Hulse, Charlotte and Evelyn Walker, Baylor and Blake Katcher, her sister Phyllis Cagley of Flanagan, brother Darrell Hart of Ottawa and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Skip, Son-In-Law Don Benckendorf, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Shirley Hart. brothers-in-law, Raymond Evans and Herbert Cagley.

Juanita attended the Centennial grade school in Manville (where her home is actually at) and graduated from Streator High School in 1948. She was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Juanita was formerly employed at Lipton Tea, Motorola in Pontiac and Oogie Restaurant and Holly’s Gatehouse Restaurant.

She enjoyed watching her grandkids at sporting events, doing puzzles, word search, feeding the deer, squirrels and birds and was a avid Chicago Cubs Fan.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Woodland Education Foundation or to a charity of the donors choice.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Vicki Walter and Linda Simpson for all the meals that they provided to her over the years
