Larry Lee Hert

Larry Lee Hert, 79 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (January 29, 2023) surrounded by his loved ones at his home.

A visitation will be held Thursday (Feb. 2^nd) from 4 – 6 PM with a time of remembrance being held at 6 at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.

Larry was born on May 5, 1943 in Streator to Clyde and Bonnie (Ashley) Hert.

Surviving are; daughters Lee Ann (Dave) Essman of Streator, Laura Hert of Streator, son Joe (Mary Ann) Hert of Streator, longtime girlfriend Linda Jonen of Streator, grandchildren, Bryan (Katie) Essman, Hannah (Heath) Walker, Zak (Sarah Grako) Hert and Dawn Hefler, great grandchildren Blake and Bennett Essman and Wesley Walker, brothers, Jerry Hert of Buckeye, AZ and Willie (Debbie) Hert of Streator, sisters, Kay (Stan) Larson of Streator and Bonnie Tyler of Tennessee, a special nephew Terry Tyler and his former spouse Barb Overocker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim, Bob, Jack and Kenny, sisters, Ila Zurlinden, Ethel Jennings, Ann Dice, Nancy Thomas and Betty Sirotnak.

Larry attended Woodland School and he was a truck driver his whole life, working for many local trucking companies specifically Melvin Sales for many years until their closure, then at Prestress Engineering until his retirement. He enjoyed watching Nascar, sprint car and midget car racing.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
