LaVern E. Defenbaugh, 86 of Pontiac and formerly of Reading passed away (Feb. 22) at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 9-11AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Defenbaugh Cemetery in Ancona.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Fredericksen, Todd Baker, Tony Proe, Dean Ruff, Gail Rapp, and Ted and Mike Ores. Pallbearers will be Chris Fredericksen, Robert "Bob" Dieken, Frank Legner, Frank Legner, Jr., Danny Martin and Larry Hassinger.
LaVern was born on November 7, 1925 in Monterey, MN to Lloyd and Sarah (Noble) Semans.
She married Grover "Bud" Defenbaugh, Jr. on June 16, 1945. He passed away June 27, 1996.
Surviving is sister, Honey Martin of Streator, sister-in law, Tootie Finkenbinder of Cornell and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and James Cairns, and Merle Semans, and sisters, Beulah "Booie" Fredericksen, Sarah Benge and Viola Carlson.
She was a member of the Community Lutheran Church in Cornell and Pontiac Elks. She loved ballroom dancing and playing cards.
LaVern was employed for 10 years at the National Tea Co. in Streator, Defenbaugh Trucking, and Ancona Grain for 26 years retiring in 1986.
