Leo Patrick Downey Sr., 64 of Streator passed away Tuesday evening (July 24th) at Edward Hospital, Naperville.
Visitation will be held Sunday (July 29th) from 3 - 6PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday (July 30th) at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery.
Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Don Krasnican, Colette Cinnamon, Mike Mushro, Courtney Brandkamp, Brady Smith Sr., Kelly Jo Gallick, George Barlic, Brian Tutko and Joseph Christensen. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Christensen, Tim Downey, Brad Tutko, Dale Devera, Paul Cinnamon Jr., Trevor Cinnamon, Tim Cebulko and Rob Maziarka.
Leo was born on August 28, 1947 in Odell to Cyril Patrick and Mary (Richardson) Downey.
He married Virginia Kay Tutko on March 29, 1969 she passed away May 14, 2001.
Surviving is son Leo Patrick (David Coronado) Downey Jr. of Des Plaines, granddaughter, Aleesa Kay Downey of Streator, sisters Shirley (Dan) Cebulko of Peoria, Carol Pellegrine of Streator, Margaret (Paul) Cinnamon Sr. of Montgomery and Deloris (Ron) Gallick of Peoria and several nieces and nephews.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Eric and brother James Downey Sr.
He retired from Caterpillar in Joliet and worked part time at Mushro Machine Shop. He was a member of the Blood, Sweat and Gears Car Club and the Caterpillar Campers Club of Joliet. He attended Streator High School.
Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donors' choice.
