   Edna M Pavey, 106 of Ottawa passed away Monday morning (May 30th) at the Ottawa Pavilion Nursing Home.
   There will be no visitation. Private family graveside services will be held on Monday at 2PM at the Grand Ridge Cemetery. With Rev. Lisa Hadler officiating.
   Grand Ridge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
   Edna was born January 26, 1905 in Grand Ridge Township to Charles and Emma (Noack) Hagie.
   She married Hans Johansen on August 17, 1940. He passed away April 26, 1942. She then married John Pavey on July 18, 1970. He passed away November 14, 1984.
   She is survived by 5 nieces, Marilyn Thacker of Streator, Barbara Jo Mahl of MI, Norma O'Malley of AZ, Nancy Waver of MN, Janet O'Brien of MN, and nephew, William (Bill) Boissenin of VA., several cousins, 40 great nieces and nephews, 60 great-great nieces and nephews, and 31 great-great-great nieces and nephews, 4 great-great-great-great nephews and all the great help to her over the years, including Doreen Skaggs, and Edna's friend Sheila Eilts that were by her side when she peacefully passed away and also help from Edith Allender, Barb Anderson, Marilyn Thacker, Missy Cook, Kelli Skaggs and William (Bill) Boissenin.
   She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Grace Stephens, Elma Jerue, Ruth Allison, and Charlet Kratoska, 1 sister in infancy, niece, Elta Mae Mahoney, nephew, Carl Nelson, 2 great nephews, and a 1 great-great nephew.
   She attended and graduated from Grand Rapids Township Country Grade School in 1918. In the fall of 1920 she attended boarding school and graduated from Pleasant View Luther Academy in South Ottawa in 1924, 2nd in her class, being named Salutatorian. While in school she became a qualified piano teacher, built up a class of pupils and during the summer months she went house to house in Brookfield and Marseilles giving lessons. She continued on as Mrs. Paisley's assistant piano teacher until the 2 year college course was instilled, and graduated in 1928. After graduation she moved to Chicago to find work. Piano teaching didn't last long. The family she was staying with knew of someone that worked at Montgomery Ward and got her a permanent job there. She attended some night classes until she became the accounting supervisor in the Advertising Department at Montgomery Ward in Chicago where she worked for 37 years until her retirement in 1970. She had taken many trips with friends from Montgomery Ward's and also with family over the years.
   Edna was the one who started the Noack/Hagie family tree booklets for the family and also served on the Hagie family reunion committee for years.
   She lived in Chicago prior to moving to Ottawa in 1984 and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ottawa. She was a member of the Puritan Chapter Women's Organization of church and the Ottawa Senior Citizen Club formerly as the treasurer for 9 years.
   While living at the Ravlin Congregate of Ottawa she participated in the activities, where she also had several jobs including taking pictures for the history and record keeping, directed the exercise class and Bunco group and trained volunteers while also working at their country store. She retired from all of these jobs at age 99. Edna also learned to use a computer to write letters and play solitaire at age 101.
   Edna was an amazing, detailed oriented lady and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
