Stanley Dale Phillips, 64 of Cullom, passed away Sunday (July 4, 2010) at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Following donation to medical science, a private family service was held at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with burial in Riverview Cemetery.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Doug Patterson, Dale Zehr, Dennis Shumway, Jim Clayton, Tim Samuelson and Dave Spratt.
He was born February 3, 1946 in Streator to Henry E. and Christina M. (Krofft) Phillips.
Stanley married Gin Melrose on May 12, 1972. She survives.
Also surviving are sons, Gary Phillips of Cullom, Eric Phillips of West Des Moines, IA, daughter, Lisa (John DeVore) Phillips of West Des Moines, IA, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 1 great-granddaughter, brothers, Walter (Barbara) Phillips of St. Anne, IL, and Mark (Lynn) Phillips of Molalla, Oregon, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stanley graduated Streator High School in 1964. He was a member of the Streator VFW, the Saunamin American Legion, and A.B.A.T.E. , Union local 2096, M.R.F. (Motorcycle Riders Foundation) and Joliet HOG He taught motorcycle classes at Harley Davidson in Ottawa and also at I.S.U. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. Stanley retired from Caterpillar in Pontiac in 2007, and formerly owned and operated the Tistles Bar in Cullom, S&G Refrigeration & Advanced Refrigeration. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, woodworking and motorcycling.
