Mary Jean (Antolik) Fortson

Mary Jean Fortson, 81 of Streator passed away Thursday morning (Jan.13, 2022) at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 – 7 PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Mary was born on November 16, 1940, in Streator to Elmer and Rebecca (Breese) Antolik. She married John N. Fortson on September 9, 1960. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1996.
Surviving are daughters; Laura (Bob) Oldenburg of Luray, VA, Patricia Fortson of Streator, Deborah (Donald) Wakeman of Streator and Cheryl (Ricky) Meade of Luray, VA, grandchildren; Olivia, Rebecca and Eric Oldenburg, Adam, Michael (Erica) and Patrick Fortson, Abigail, Maggie, and Johnathan Wakeman, Brandi (Jason) Sterling, Kayla (Mike) Pearce, and Mary Caroline, Wendy, and Jordan Meade and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, a brother Keno Antolik and a sister Viola Trowbridge.
Mary graduated from Woodland High School in 1958, attended Bible College in Des Moines, IA and retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 2021. She enjoyed reading and doing her yardwork.
