Mary E. Hockett-Zurlinden

Mary E. (Hockett) Zurlinden, 86 of Toulon Health Care Center of Toulon and formerly of the Streator and Ottawa area took the hands of Jesus on October 24, 2019 and went to her eternal heavenly home.

Visitation will be held Monday from 10 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Don Reul of the First Baptist Church, Galva. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mary was born on August 6, 1933 in Marissa, IL to Albert and Lydia (Geralds) Jones.  She married Sidney Hockett on March 12, 1950.  He preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.  She later married Emory Zurlinden on January 17, 1998.  He preceded her in death on June 5, 2009.

Surviving are children Sidney L. (Sue) Hockett Jr of New Palatine, IN, Gayla S. (Gary) Ketchum of Galva, Rudy M. Hockett of Clearwater, Fl, son-in-law Daniel Madara of Marseilles, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Esther Salvator of Pontiac, Cora Starling of Humble, TX, Nora Harris of Pensacola, FL brothers Kenneth Jones of Versailles, KY and Burley Jones of Cleveland, TX.

She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, daughter Lydia Madara, sister, Margaret King, brothers Albert, John and a baby brother David Lee Jones, daughter-in-law Reggie Hockett and a great-grandson Adam Gazza.

Mary was very involved in her church and always enjoyed sharing her faith.  She visited nursing homes to bring God’s love.  She loved quilting.  Mary was of the Nazarene faith.  Her favorite song was “Amazing Grace” and her favorite scripture was Romans 12: verse 1 & 2.

In lieu of flowers the family request gifts to the Compassus Hospice Care @ 755 N Henderson St.  Galesburg, IL  61401 in her memory.
