Melody Lynn Remeta

Melody Lynn Budde Remeta, 65, of Long Point, IL, passed away on June 10, 2024.

Melody was born in Pontiac, IL in 1958 to Herman and Darlene Budde.  She graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School in 1976.   She was employed for 37 ½ years at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator from 1978 until it was purchased by OSF.  She was then employed at Wexford for 7 years to work at the Pontiac Prison.  She volunteered for 23 years at the Long Point Volunteer Fire Department as an EMT and secretary.  She was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Minonk, IL.

In 1977, she met the love of her life, Mark Remeta, and they wed on August 19, 1978, going on to have three children, Melissa, Michelle, and Michael.

Melody is survived by her husband Mark Remeta; mother, Darlene Budde; children: Melissa (Dan) Beutke, Michelle (Jake) Chiavene, and Michael Remeta; grandchildren: Brynna Beutke and Hayden Chiavene; sister Treva Budde; brother David (Dondi) Budde; AFS sister Rosey Pomaya – Lima, Peru; sister-in-law Jackie (Tracey) Schuler; father-in-law Elmer Osterdock; many nieces and nephews.  

Melody was preceded in death by her father, Herman Budde; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Tom Godar; mother-in-law Verna Osterdock.  

Melody will be cremated at Winterrowd Hagi Funeral Home.  Mark is organizing a public celebration of life on June 22, 2024, at Marshall County Sportman’s Club from 1pm to 7pm and asks that anyone with fond memories and stories feel free to attend and share.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following: Woodland FFA Greenhouse, Long Point Volunteer Fire Department, and Livingston County 4-H.
