Mildred Kay Pond

Mildred Kay Pond, 71 of rural Ottawa passed away Monday evening (July 30^th) at Heritage Health, Streator.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 – 5 PM at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the St. Andrews of the Fields Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her sons, Daniel, David and Dustin, grandsons, Alex, Ben and Nathan.

Mildred was born on September 3, 1946 in Streator to Leland and Beatrice (Abbott) Lormis.  She married William Pond on June 18, 1966.  He survives.

Also surviving are sons Daniel (Audra) Pond of Ottawa, David Pond of Streator and Dustin (Samantha) Pond of Ottawa, grandchildren Alexander (Samantha) Pond, Christine, Alexis, Delaney, Benjamin and Nathan Pond, 1 great-granddaughter Scarlett and a sister Helen Cheatham of Florida.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, brothers William and Charlie and a sister Marie Sokn.

Mildred graduated from Streator High School in 1964 and retired as a school bus driver and a cook at the Deer Park Grade School after many years.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting.
