Miriam Kay Gleim, 88 of Grand Ridge passed away Saturday evening (February 22, 2020) at the Pleasant View Luther Home, Ottawa.
Private family services will be held with burial in the Grand Rapids Cemetery. The Grand Ridge Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Miriam was born on August 30, 1931 in Ottawa to Mervin and Myra (Graff) Arentsen. She married John D. Gleim on June 23, 1957. He survives.
Also surviving are daughters Kari (Steven Carrier) Kirk of Saylorsburg, PA and Kristi (Lori McCollum) Gleim of Normal, grandchildren Kelsey Kirk and Ian (Jenna) Kirk and 1 great –grandchild Revyn Kirk.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Karen Kerns.
Miriam graduated from the Ottawa Township High School in 1949 and graduated from the college of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois. She retired as Librarian and Language Arts Teacher at Grand Ridge Grade School and previously taught Spanish and French at the Arcola, Princeton and Streator High Schools. Miriam was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
