Patsy Ann Balke of Streator passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon (February 14, 2024) at the ARC in Streator.
A visitation will be held Monday from 9 – 11 AM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with the rosary recited at 8:45. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Feken, Louie Hancin Jr., Jerry “Bo” Matsko, Mark Painter, Bill Sedlock and Dan Sedlock Jr..
Patsy was born on November 25, 1932, in Los Angeles, CA to Ted and Joycelen (Quigg) Carroll. She married William “Bill” Balke on November 18, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1994.
Surviving are, nieces, Phyllis Jean LeVelle, Kathy Parzgnat and Jane Sulllivan, nephew Ralph Feken and dear friends, Mary and Bo Matsko and Sheryl Sedlock.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, sister Diane Jean Boner and niece Patsy Jo Barnard.
Patsy worked for Thatcher Glass for 35 years retiring in 1985. Patsy loved to work in her yard and attend auctions. She was an avid Bowler and was on the Ladies Senior League for many years. She was a part of many holidays and get-togethers with the family of Dan and Norma Sedlock Sr. who became like a second family to her. She spent many enjoyable Sunday afternoons with friends playing Bingo at the Knights of Columbus. She was of the Catholic faith and a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Patsy was a positive lady who looked on the bright side of life. She enjoyed meeting new people and was happy sharing a conversation with anyone. When someone did her a kindness, her response would often be “well bless your heart”. Her life’s joy were her family and friends and will always be remembered for her infectious smile.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Meals on Wheels Program through the Voluntary Action Center of LaSalle County or a charity of the donors choice.
