Paul E. Griffith

August 30, 1948 — September 28, 2013

Paul E. Griffith, 65, of Cornell passed away Saturday morning (Sept. 28th),  at his home.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 – 8PM and Thursday from 11 – 12Noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12noon at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Snyder, Steve Rapp, Will VanWeelden, Terry Freese, John Haley and Rob Bohm, with Jerry Warfield being an honorary pall bearer.

Paul was born on August 30, 1948, in Owensboro, KY, to Seymour and Lattie Marie (Mitchell) Griffith.  He married Cheryl Cave on December 28, 1969, and she passed away on July 14, 2008.

Surviving are children: Shelley (Terry) Wilson of Flanagan, P.J. Griffith of Pontiac, Kelly (Craig) Hansen of Cornell, and Kim Griffith of Cornell, grandchildren:  Craig (Megan Mueller) Wilson, Clay and Katie Wilson, Wyatt Griffith and Alexandra Hansen, nephew  John Clevenger of Lake Geneva, WI, and several other nieces and nephews and beloved dog Kennedy.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother J.C. Griffith, sisters;  Edith Reneer, Oleda Clark, Margie Brown and Kathleen Schwartz.

He graduated from Davies County High School in Owensboro, KY, and retired from Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington. He also had been employed at Owens in Streator for many years. He was a member of the Cornell United Methodist Church and attended New Life Christian Center in Cornell, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats fan.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
