Robert C. (Bob) Hampson, 94 of Grand Ridge passed away Monday morning (May 7, 2012) at Heritage Healthcare in Streator.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-6PM at the Grand Ridge Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grand Ridge Cemetery.
Bob was born on July 5, 1917 on the family farm in Farm Ridge Township to Ralph and Lorella (Woodward) Hampson.
He married Gertrude Ott on May 4, 1940. They lived in Grand Ridge all of their lives. She passed away June 2, 2001.
Surviving are sons, Gene (Peggy) Hampson of Springfield, IL, and Robert Gerry (Alice) Hampson of Washington, IL and daughter, Diane (Ken) Nikels of Kearney, Nebraska, 9 grandchildren, Cindy, Steve, Chris, Ted and Jeff Hampson, Holly and Michelle Nikels, Jennifer Swanson, and Paula McNair, and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 5 sisters, a brother, and a grandson.
Bob attended Grand Ridge Elementary and High School. He was a member and elder of the Grand Ridge Presbyterian Church, and charter member of Grand Ridge fire department. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being with his friends. Everyone in town knew him as Grand Ridge Bob and by his wave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grand Ridge Fire Department.
