Robert G. Gmelich, 63 of Streator passed away Saturday afternoon (Jan. 29th) at St. Mary's Hospital.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 1-2PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be held on Friday at 2PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
Robert was born on August 9, 1947 in Streator to Christ and Velma (Van Meter) Gmelich.
He married Jean Carey on March 26, 1968. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Velma Gmelich of Ancona, brother, Richard Gmelich of Ancona, sister-in-law, Janet McCall of Streator, brothers-in-law, Roger Scanland of Maryland, and Bernard Dwyer of Rockford, several nieces and nephews, a special friend, Connie Barton of Streator, and his dog, "Joe".
He was preceded in death by his father.
Robert retired from Owens Illinois Glass in 2005.
He was baptized at Central Church of Christ in Streator and graduated from Woodland High School in 1966.
Memorials may be directed to Pet Project or Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
