Robert E. Horton, 88 of Kangley passed away Saturday morning (Jun 4th) at his home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 - 8PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator VFW and American Legion. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Horton, Aaron Keller, Chris Hass, Josh Alberts, Edward Webster, Mike and Mark Wheeler.
Bob was born November 7, 1922 in Streator to Joseph and Harriet (Hoit) Horton. He married Joan Llewellyn on Jan. 11, 1951 she passed on Feb. 23, 1998.
Surviving are children Robert J. (Marlene) Horton of Streator, Tamra (Darryl) Alberts of Streator, Arthur W. (Corrine) Horton of Burlington, WI, Jenny (Gary) Webster of Streator and Mary (Tim) Aranjo of Glen Ellyn, IL, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren, brother, John Horton of Montana, sisters, Edna Richards of Streator, Mary Ann Reynolds of Streator, Thelma Gouliard of Pekin, brother-in-law, Donald Paddock of Rockville, IN and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a son, David, brothers, Arthur, Donald, Walter, George, James and Ralph Horton 2 sisters, Ellen Houchin and Lyla Whitney.
Bob attended Streator Grade Schools and Streator High School, served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Thatcher Glass Co in 1980 and was a member of the Streator VFW Post 1492 and formerly a bowler with the Streator Men's Bowling League.
