Robert C. Rogers, 85 of Streator passed away Saturday morning (June 8, 2013) at Heritage Health Care.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 â 8PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors conducted. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Art Elliott, Joseph and Rodney McDonald, Kevin Smith, Christopher Hays and Danny Lee Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Rogers and Jim McDonald.
Bob was born on March 19, 1928 in Streator to Delbert and Lucretia (Williams) Rogers. He married Ida Mae DuVall on December 27, 1948, she passed away on January 4, 2011.
Surviving are children; Roberta (James) McDonald of Streator, Daniel (Sue) Rogers of Streator, Donna (Fred) Barhum of Streator, Charles Rogers of Streator, 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, Orville Rogers of Manville, sister, Joyce Graves of Hendersonville, NC.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson Benjamin Rogers, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Bob attended Ralph Plumb Grade School and served in the US Air Force during WWII and retired from Sheridan Correctional Center and was formerly employed at Thatcher Glass and C.W. Sitton.
Member of the Erven Avenue Baptist Church, Streator American Legion and VFW and Lazy Acres.
