Ronald D. Genseke, 78 of Streator passed away Tuesday (July 9th) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Following cremation rites, a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-4PM at the Winterrowd Funeral Home with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW at 4PM.
Ronald was born on March 23, 1935 in Streator, Illinois to Frederick and Mary (Dovin ) Genseke.
He married Rose Felker on February 6, 1958. She passed away November 24, 1995.
Surviving is son, Jerry (Barbara) Corgiat of Stevens Point, WI, 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Corgiat of Madison, WI, and Natalie Corgiat of Prior Lake, Minnesota, 3 great-grandchildren, Avery Porath, and Brittany and Zachary Corgiat, brother, Vernon (Betty) Genseke, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Ron attended Grant Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1954.
He was a member of the Streator Moose and Streator Eagles. He was a carpenter and a lifelong car enthusiast.
Ron served in the US Army from Jan. 30, 1958 âJan. 12, 1960. He was stationed at the same base as Elvis Presley while attending basic training in Fort Hood, TX. He was then stationed in Geinhausen, Germany, where coincidentally, Elvis was also stationed at the same base.
