Ronald Lee Neitzel

Ronald L. Neitzel, 76 of Streator passed away Sunday evening (July 9, 2023) at Heritage Health, Streator.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 10AM until 12noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at noon at the funeral home with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and VFW.

Ron was born on February 11, 1947, in Streator to Ross and Darlene (Mc-Cumsey) Neitzel.  He married Carole Grau on September 20, 1969.  She survives.

Also surviving are sons, Brian (Amber) Neitzel of Waukee, IA, Paul (Cheryl) Neitzel of Mesa, AZ and Eric (Sarah) Neitzel of Streator, grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Serena, Makayla, Zachary and Morgan Neitzel and Nicholas Lotshaw and a brother Alan (Carol) Neitzel of Elwood, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lura Gilkerson and grandchild Kyle Lotshaw.

Ron attended Streator grade school and graduated from Streator High School in 1965.  He proudly served as a small arms repairman in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  Ron retired from Verizon as an outside plant engineer and was a member of the Streator VFW and Central Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or charity of the donor’s choice.
