Rosann F Rommelfaenger

Rosann F. Rommelfaenger, 79 of Streator passed away Monday evening (March 6, 2023) at her home.

In lieu of a memorial and service now, a celebration of her life will be held with friends and family during the spring/summer.  She will be laid to rest in Dee Dee’s Garden at the family home.

Rosann was born on December 3, 1943, in Chicago and married her high school sweetheart Robert A. Rommelfaenger on August 20, 1960.  They enjoyed 62 years of marriage, and he lives on their farm, where he cares for the land and for their beloved Burnese Mountain dog.

Also surviving are daughters, Michele (Lenny) Koniewicz of Aurora and Cindy (Ken) Mace of Martinez, GA; daughter-in-law Kathy Macnider of Belvidere, IL; 7 grandchildren, Cora, Mike, Lisa, Bob, Jacob, Caitee Jean, Molly Rosann and 4 great-grandchildren, Braden, Scarlett, Declan and Luke.

She is preceded in death by her son Butch Macnider, granddaughter Dee Dee Rommelfaenger and great-grandson Maddox Ford Gettys.

Rosann helped pave the way for women in law enforcement when she graduated as part of the Chicago police academy’s first class to include female patrol officers.  She retired from the CPD after 29 years of dedicated service, where she served and protected communities with passion and diligence.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
